Chairman’s Message

Dear Residents,

I’m delighted to share with you that at the 2020 Municipal Services Awards, the Jurong-Clementi Town Council (JRTC) performed extremely well by winning three awards in different categories. These awards are part of the Municipal Services Office’s OneService Recognition Framework that aims to motivate staff by recognising their contribution to the town council’s functioning, especially by encouraging a resident-centric inter-agency collaboration.

The JRTC initiatives recognised at the awards include an improved pneumatic waste conveyance system in Yuhua that was nominated by the Housing and Development Board, while the resolution of rats issue at Clementi Town Centre and high-rise littering in Jurong East St 24 were nominated by the National Environment Agency. These awards further validate the efforts that the JRTC staff put into making our neighbourhood a clean and healthy place that we proudly call home.

Talking about high-rise littering, it, unfortunately, still remains a menace islandwide, and we have received feedback on over 400 such cases since January this year. We will continue to monitor and address it in order to make our estate a safe and clean place. We aim to do this through a combination of awareness campaigns about the potentially fatal outcomes of high-rise littering, as well as stiffer penalties.

We all have a part to play in keeping our neighbourhood clean by encouraging good civic practices. This is especially important as we continue to boost our hygiene and sanitation routines in light of the Covid-19 pandemic.

As we continue to increasingly resume pre-Covid-19-level functioning, I urge all the residents to continue to take all the necessary safety measures and stay united as a community to keep the virus at bay.

Regardless of the challenges, our focus is always on improving the quality of service that our residents have come to expect from JRTC, and we look forward to receiving feedback from you on important estate matters. We also firmly believe that collective and concerted efforts by both the JRTC and the residents make our neighbourhood a welcoming, clean and inclusive place for everyone.
