Now Jurong residents can go for a nature ramble right in our backyards at the newly opened Lakeside Garden. This 53ha park has a boardwalk named the Rasau Walk, which takes visitors through a freshwater swamp forest. It is also connected to grassland and wetland trails, where herons, hornbills and otters live.
Lakeside Garden is located along Yuan Ching Road and next to Lakeside MRT station, and was developed with an emphasis on nature, community and play, said the National Parks Board (NParks).
The garden, which opened on 27 April, is the first phase of the 90ha Jurong Lake Gardens, Singapore’s third national gardens and its first in the heartlands. The remaining sections of Jurong Lake Gardens will open progressively from 2021 onwards.
