Project Ohana by Polytechnic students stresses on family bonding

With hectic work schedules and lifestyles, people are hard pressed for time, and often it is the family time that suffers. To address this prevalent issue in modern society a cohort of 46 year 1 students from Ngee Ann Polytechnic, pursuing the Diploma of Business and Social Enterprise, presented Project Ohana at the Clementi Community Centre. The objectives of this project are to raise awareness about the importance of spending time with loved ones, and to let families forger stronger bonds.

Joining in the project is Dr Tan Wu Meng, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Trade and Industry.

Participants included 20 families, who were referred by the neighbourhood community partners, such as Rotary FSC, Church of the Holy Cross, Jamiyah Student Care Services and Community of Praise Baptist Church. The carnival-themed event provided opportunities for attendees to spend quality time with their families by bonding over activities. Participating family members played games, and won prizes and even got the chance to form new friendships with fellow attendees. Student volunteers also presented some stage performances to entertain the attendees during the tea break.
