Celebrate the joy of parenthood

Being a first-time parent can be a joyful yet nerve-racking experience as you attempt to care for the needs of your little one. Earlier in October, “Embracing Parenthood Movement” (EPM), a community-led initiative, was organised in five locations across Clementi. The aim of the programme is to celebrate the birth of newborns and build a strong community support system for young families.

Through interactive play activities such as craft making, music and mass game activities, participating families got to strengthen their bonds through meaningful learn and play experiences.

At the Expert Sharing Corner, community partners such as the Centre for Fathering, Health Promotion Board, KK Women’s & Children’s Hospital, shared information on government policies that could help to support parenthood and young families, child’s health development and many more. Besides learning from the experts, families were also encouraged to support and help one another by joining parent support groups.

Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Foreign Affairs and Trade and Industry, Member of Parliament and Grassroots Advisor for Jurong GRC (Clementi), Dr Tan Wu Meng, who attended the five events, said: “Some families already know one another as neighbours while others met for the first time. That sense of community, having friends – old and new – on the parenting adventure together added a little something to the journey of our Clementi mummies and daddies.”
