Pushing for a clean and green environment

American inspirational author Dr. Orison Swett Marden once said this: “We make the world we live in and shape our own environment.” As Singapore works towards its climate action goals, keeping our environment clean and clean is of paramount importance.

At the annual Clean and Green event, Madam Rahayu Mahzam, Member of Parliament for Jurong GRC (Bukit Batok East), joined residents for a tree planting session at Blocks 254 and 257 Bukit Batok East Ave 4. To show appreciation for their hard work in keeping our estates clean, each Bukit Batok cleaner was presented with a token of appreciation during the event.

Madam Grace Fu, Minister of Culture, Community and Youth, and Advisor to Yuhua Grassroots Organisations, also attended a similar event on 1 December at Block 113 Jurong East Street 13. Apart from tree planting, students from Yuhua PCF pre-school took part in a mass cleaning and litter picking at the common areas near the tree planting venue. The mass cleaning activity aimed to impart a more conscious view to the young ones on how a clean environment can benefit society at large.
