66 lifts to benefit from Lift Replacement Program (LRP)

A total of 66 lifts in the third batch will be replaced under the LRP programme in 2024. These are older generation lifts that have been in operation for close to 28 years, and they will be replaced with newer generation lifts that are safer, more reliable and more energy-efficient. Some of the new features include uncontrolled car movement protection, ascending car overspeed protection, car door gate switches, infrared curtains and regenerative drive systems, to be aligned with the latest SS550 standard requirements.

To ensure minimal disruption to the occupants in the block undergoing LRP, only one lift will be replaced each time, which also will be coupled with bi-weekly maintenance done on the remaining lift in operation. This is to ensure that the remaining lift in the block be at its optimal condition, given its age. The duration of LRP works to be done for each lift spans five to six months, before it is checked and allowed to be in operation.

Noise and mess

Lift installation works are construction projects that will cause unavoidable noise and dust. The contractors are very aware of the need to keep the site safe, clean and tidy. The area will be also be cordoned off for safety reasons and to minimise noise and dust.
