Solar panels to be installed atop HDB rooftops in Jurong-Clementi estates

Further strengthening its commitment towards creating a sustainable neighbourhood and in alignment with the Singapore Green Plan 2030, Jurong-Clementi Town Council (JRTC) has teamed up with the Housing and Development Board (HDB) and SembCorp Singapore to install solar panels across an estimated 158 blocks throughout the seven estates comprising Bukit Batok, Bukit Batok East, Clementi, Jurong Central, Jurong Spring, Taman Jurong and Yuhua.

The project, SolarNova 7, will first be launched in Jurong Central and will be installed on the rooftops of 10 blocks along Jurong West St 42, yielding an approximate 1500 MWh (megawatt-hour) of solar energy yearly once completed.  Launched in 2014, the SolarNova programme is a whole-of-Government effort led by the Economic Development Board and HDB to accelerate the deployment of solar photovoltaic systems in Singapore as well as part of a larger push towards meeting clean and sustainable energy demands.
