Neighbourhood Renewal Programme Brings a New Multi-Generational Fitness Corner, Barbecue Pits and More to Bukit Batok

The Neighbourhood Renewal Programme (NRP), introduced in 2007, was a nationwide response to a collective need for community spaces to grow alongside residents. This entails a continuous effort to improve and enhance existing communal grounds, while creating new ones befitting the residents’ ever-changing way of life.

One of the many improvements and revamps resulting from the NRP is evident at Block 192 Bukit Batok West Avenue 6, which now houses a brand-new fitness corner, a sheltered drop-off point and more.

Residents can avail themselves of modern exercise machines: Smart Elliptical Trainer and Smart Hand Cycler (both with adjustable resistance and wireless charging) which are built with the intention of accommodating individuals with different degrees of mobility.

These equipment also carry charging ports that are fueled by kinetic energy from the user’s own momentum.

Sheltered Pick-Up Point and Barbecue Pits

The addition of a drop-off point has been highly anticipated by residents, offering a new level of convenience to facilitate sheltered pick-ups and drop-offs without being disrupted by rain.

New pavilions have also been constructed to shelter the estate’s barbecue pits, allowing for community gatherings to take place without being disrupted by weather irregularities.

Joe, who has been a resident of Bukit Batok since 2005, says: “This space was merely shrubs and vegetation,” he shared as he gestured animatedly in the direction of his estate. “Today, we have a fitness corner, a pick-up point, as well as barbecue pits.”
