Christmas Wonderland @ Jurong Spring

by Our Neighbourhood
Christmas Wonderland @ Jurong Spring

December is a season of great joy, where many families and friends gather for Christmas celebrations and sumptuous feasting. Last month, many residents at Jurong Spring decided to mark the year-end festive season in a different way by joining their neighbours at a Christmas Wonderland celebration at Jurong Spring Playfield, beside Block 549, Jurong West Street 42.

The joyous event kicked off with a group of wheelchair-bound elderly from an old folks’ home who sang the popular Hokkien song Ah Piah Jia Eh Yiah, while other artistes sang the theme song from the well-known Taiwanese soap opera Love to evoke a sense of nostalgia. The festive mood was also jazzed up by an eclectic performance by Ukelele interest group Yuhua De 4-Strings.

As dusk set in, many residents started to stream towards Playfield to enjoy carnival floats and fun rides with their kids and friends. One of the highlights was the carousel train, which allowed residents to enjoy the year-end breezy weather as they toured their neighbourhood in style.

Mr Desmond Lee, Minister for Social and Family Development, Second Minister for National Development, and Adviser to Jurong GRC Grassroots Organisations, took the opportunity to mingle with the residents and offered them well wishes for the New Year. The celebration ended on a high note with foam bubbles, resembling snowfall, floating around the stage as the audience cheered a fun-filled evening.
