As the final day of 2019 dawned on us, many have marked the date for a catch-up with old friends or joined one of the many New Year’s Eve countdown parties happening across Singapore to usher in the New Year. There were also plenty of community countdown parties in the heartlands, including the Clementi Countdown Party, which took place at Clementi Town, near Blocks 442 to 447 Clementi Avenue 3.
Cheered by the lighthearted performances of celebrity hosts Lin Ru Ping and Didicazli, residents had an exciting evening of non-stop fun under the fairy lights as they enjoyed popular local food at the various food stalls, chit-chat with their neighbours, and brought their kids for a thrilling carnival ride. Local talents Leon and K-Konnects also performed a medley of songs and string musical performances as the audience awaited the countdown.
To help the party revellers work out some sweat and shed off extra kilos from the festive eating, there was also a GetActiveSG workout. At 11.10pm, Salsation instructor Jojo and a group of kids who donned party costumes took to the stage and performed an energetic salsation, which is a dance fitness that combines functional training and dynamic moves into a fun and easy dance. The countdown party was also attended by Dr Tan Wu Meng, Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Foreign Affairs and Trade and Industry, Member of Parliament, and Grassroots Adviser for Jurong GRC (Clementi), who applauded the event as a great occasion for friends and family to gather. “We’ve met wise seniors who’ve seen how the town has evolved, as well as young parents who are out and about with their families. I’ve also met little children, whose journeys will write tomorrow’s chapters of our Singapore story,” he wrote in a Facebook post.
